Labor Department to Investigate Complaints of Employers Dropping Some, But Not All Employees Health Benefits

The Labor Department’s Employee Benefits Security Administration has received complaints from employees whose health insurance benefits were dropped while management and office staff remain covered.  The company involved employs between 1,000 and 5,000 people nationally.

In addition the dropped employees received no offsetting compensation and no notice of their ability to continue coverage under Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA).
